The Letter to the Hebrews Chapter 12 V- 5 and 13
5 You have also forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons: “My son, do not disdain the discipline of the Lord or lose heart when reproved by him; 6 for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines; he scourges every son he acknowledges.” 7 Endure your trials as “discipline”; God treats you as sons. For what “son” is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are without discipline, in which all have shared, you are not sons but bastards. 9 Besides this, we have had our earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them. Should we not [then] submit all the more to the Father of spirits and live?10 They disciplined us for a short time as seemed right to them, but he does so for our benefit, in order that we may share his holiness. 11 At the time, all discipline seems a cause not for joy but for pain, yet later it brings the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who are trained by it. 12 So strengthen your drooping hands and your weak knees. 13 Make straight paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed.
Hebrews 12:5-13 offers profound insights into the nature of divine discipline, reminding us that God’s correction is an essential aspect of our spiritual journey. The passage encourages believers not to take lightly the Lord’s discipline, for it stems from His love and desire for us to thrive as His children. Just as a loving parent corrects their child, God shapes us through His guidance, ensuring we grow in righteousness and strength.
Discipline from the Lord is not merely punitive; it is transformative. It refines our character, aligning us more closely with His will. This process may be uncomfortable, but it is necessary for our spiritual maturity. The writer of Hebrews emphasizes that enduring discipline is a mark of true sonship. When we face trials and corrections, we are reminded that we are part of God's family, destined for eternal life with Him.
Moreover, the passage highlights the ultimate reward of this discipline: the peaceful fruit of righteousness. As we submit to God's correction, we cultivate a life that reflects His holiness and grace. This righteousness brings forth joy—a joy rooted in our salvation, which is the ultimate gift of God. The joy of salvation is not fleeting; it is a deep, abiding assurance that we are reconciled with our Creator.
In essence, the call to embrace divine discipline is a call to embrace life itself. As we endure and learn from God's corrections, we are promised a crown—a symbol of eternal life that awaits us. Let us remember that through God's loving discipline, we are being prepared for an eternal existence filled with joy and righteousness. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. The Soul of my sister-in-law Carmen. Death Uncle Donald. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Endure Your Trials as Discipline**
In the quiet whispers of His grace,
The Lord speaks softly, guiding our pace,
“Do not despise the love I show,
For through correction, My children grow.”
Like a parent’s hand that gently guides,
Through trials and tests, our faith abides,
In every struggle, His purpose is clear,
To mold us in love, to draw us near.
The path may be rough, the journey long,
Yet in His discipline, we grow strong,
For the peaceful fruit of righteousness blooms,
In hearts that embrace the light He consumes.
So let us rejoice in the trials we face,
For joy and salvation are found in His grace,
With eyes on the crown of eternal delight,
We walk in His love, through day and through night. Amen.
