The 1st Letter to The Corinthians 6 v-9 thru 11

9 Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 That is what some of you used to be; but now you have had yourselves washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

This passage from the Apostle Paul addresses the Corinthian church regarding moral and ethical behaviors. In these verses, Paul lists various groups of people who will not inherit the kingdom of God, including the sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, slanderers, and swindlers. This stark admonition serves to remind the believers of the moral standards expected of them as followers of Christ.

Paul emphasizes that these behaviors are inconsistent with a life transformed by faith in Jesus. Importantly, he follows the list with a powerful statement about redemption: “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” This affirmation conveys a message of hope and transformation, highlighting that regardless of past sins, individuals can experience spiritual renewal through Christ.

The passage invites reflection on the nature of sin and grace. It acknowledges the reality of sin in the lives of believers while simultaneously offering assurance of forgiveness and transformation. Paul’s words challenge the church to uphold a standard of holiness, reminding them that their identity is rooted in Christ and not in their past.

In a contemporary context, these verses prompt discussions on moral issues, the nature of sin, and the church's response to those struggling with various behaviors. They serve as both a warning and an encouragement, reminding believers that while they are called to live righteously, they are also recipients of God's grace, capable of change and renewal through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

09-10-2024 1 Corinthians 6 V-0911

**God’s Kingdom not for the Immoral**

In Corinth's heart, where shadows play,

A letter penned, to light the way,

Paul speaks of lives once lost in sin,

A call to change, a chance to begin.

“Do not be fooled,” he warns with grace,

For certain ways, theirs is no place,

In God’s own kingdom, pure and bright,

Where love and truth walk hand in light.

The sexually immoral, the greedy soul,

The slanderers, those who take a toll,

Adulterers, thieves, in darkness they dwell,

Yet hear this truth, a story to tell.

“For some of you were, but now you’ve been washed,

Through Christ’s great love, your burdens tossed,

Sanctified, justified, eternally in His embrace,

A brand new start, a gift of Salvation’s grace.”

Oh, what a change, from old to new,

In Christ, the old has passed from view,

No chains remain, no past to bind,

In His great mercy, true peace we find.

So rise, dear hearts, with hope and might,

Embrace the call, walk in the light,

Transformed and free, let love be your guide,

In unity and faith, let’s stand side by side.

For in our struggles, grace will abound,

In every heart, His love is found,

From darkness to dawn, we journey on,

In Christ, redeemed, we’re never alone. Amen.
