The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 18 v- one thru five
1 At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 He called a child over, placed it in their midst, 3 and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.
You know, I've been thinking a lot about the meaning of life lately. It's such a complex question, but I believe there's something to be said about becoming childlike, humbled, and ready to enter God's Kingdom. When we talk about becoming childlike, I believe it means having a sense of innocence, curiosity, and an open mind towards the world around us. Children are often humble and approach life with a sense of wonder, unburdened by preconceived notions or biases. I think that's something we can all learn from. Children have this incredible ability to find joy in the simplest things, and they approach life with a sense of pure authenticity. They are not burdened by the weight of societal expectations or the pressures of adulthood. In a way, they remind us of the importance of being true to ourselves and finding happiness in the present moment.
As we grow older, we tend to accumulate experiences, responsibilities, and sometimes even regrets. It can be easy to lose sight of what truly matters in life. But when we become humble, like children, we let go of our ego and embrace a sense of vulnerability. It allows us to connect with others on a deeper level and opens our hearts to the presence of God. When we approach life with humility, we acknowledge that we are not the ultimate authority. We recognize that there is something greater than ourselves, and that can be incredibly humbling. It reminds us to be grateful for the blessings we have and to be mindful of the impact we have on others. This humility helps us develop a strong relationship with God. It allows us to let go of our desires for control, power, and material possessions, and instead focus on living a life that is aligned with God's teachings. It helps us understand that there is a purpose beyond our individual desires and that true fulfillment comes from serving others and living a life of love and compassion. Yes, exactly! The Kingdom of God, in my understanding, is not some distant place we strive to reach after death, but rather a state of being that we can experience here and now. It's about living in harmony with God's Will, embracing love, compassion, and forgiveness, just like a child would. And in doing so, we find meaning and purpose in our lives. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others.
