The Gospel of John Chapter 6 Verses 60 thru 71

60 Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”61 Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you? 62 What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 63 It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him. 65 And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.” 66 As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him. 67 Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you twelve? Yet is not one of you a devil?” 71 He was referring to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot; it was he who would betray him, one of the Twelve.

In John 6:60-71, we witness a pivotal moment in Jesus' ministry, as He reveals profound truths about His identity and the nature of salvation. Many of His followers struggle to understand His teaching about eating His flesh and drinking His blood, which leads some to abandon Him. Jesus challenges His disciples, asking if they, too, will leave. Peter responds with clarity and conviction: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). This exchange highlights not only the difficulty of Jesus' message but also the irreplaceable source of life that He offers.

The core of this passage reinforces a fundamental truth of our faith: Jesus Christ is the only way to attain eternal life. He presents Himself in the Eucharist as a means for us to connect to His Divine Life. In the sacrament of the Eucharist, we Catholics believe in the real presence of Christ—His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—truly and substantially present. This sacred gift is intended to heal our brokenness and nourish our spirits in a world rife with suffering and sin.

Through the Eucharist, Jesus invites us to partake in His divine love and grace, granting us the strength to face our trials and tribulations. By believing and receiving Him in this profound mystery, we embrace the promise of eternal life. So, let us reaffirm our faith as Peter did, acknowledging that there is no one else who can fill us with hope and purpose. Jesus alone offers the healing and salvation we seek in a world that often leaves us feeling lost. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Kairos prison ministry day eight. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

05-10-25 John 6 v6071

**You Have Words of Eternal Life**

In whispers low, the crowd withdrew,

Their hearts unsettled by words so true,

“Eat of My flesh, drink of My blood,”

A sacred call in the living flood.

Confusion swirled in the hearts of men,

Could life and love come in this way again?

Yet Peter stood firm, a beacon of light,

“To whom shall we go? You guide us each night.”

The bread of life, a mystery divine,

In each holy morsel, His love intertwines,

With Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity near,

Eternal life offered, vanquishing fear.

In a broken world, where shadows encroach,

He comes as our healer, our hearts to approach,

Through trials we falter, yet still we believe,

In Jesus, our Savior, we find hope to receive.

So gather, dear souls, at His table of grace,

For in every moment, we glimpse His embrace,

With faith in the Eucharist, let our hearts soar,

For in Him, we discover the life we implore. Amen.
