The Gospel of Matthew 5 Verses 33 thru 37
33 “Again you have heard that it was said to your ancestors, ‘Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow.’ 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all; not by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. 37 Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the evil one.”
In Matthew 5:33-37, Jesus addresses the importance of integrity in our speech. He reminds us that swearing oaths is not merely a cultural practice, but a reflection of our character and our relationship with God. He emphasizes that our yes should be yes, and our no should be no, suggesting that our word should hold sufficient weight without the need for embellishment through oaths or swearing.
In today’s fast-paced world, casual use of foul language can often slip into our conversations, reflecting a lack of respect for ourselves and others. When we choose to speak with kindness and sincerity, we embody the truth of Christ within us. Rejecting the use of harsh language or swearing doesn’t just elevate our communication; it fosters goodwill and harmony in our interactions. Instead of expressing anger or frustration through careless words, we can create a space of understanding and compassion, mirroring the love that Christ shows us.
Living by the teachings of Christ requires a conscious effort to align our hearts with His principles. When we refrain from using foul language, we not only honor God but also cultivate an atmosphere of peace around us. It’s a powerful testament to our faith that our words can edify rather than destroy. By focusing on positive and respectful language, we affirm our commitment to living out Christ’s truth daily.
Let us strive to be mindful of our speech, allowing the goodness of Christ to flow through us. Through our words, we can spread love and understanding, demonstrating that true strength lies not in anger but in the goodness that resides in our hearts. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

06-14-25 Matthew 5 v3337
**Yes mean Yes No mean No**
In words we find our truest grace,
A promise made, a steadfast place.
No need for oaths or swearing loud,
In simple truth, we stand unbowed.
With gentle tones, let kindness reign,
Transforming anger, easing pain.
A “yes” that holds, a “no” so clear,
In every word, His love draws near.
The fabric of our lives we weave,
In honesty, we give to receive.
For Christ’s own heart beats true within,
A faithful language, free from sin.
Let not our tongues bring forth despair,
Or harshness linger in the air.
With every sentence, let us share
The gift of grace, the love we bear.
So heed these words, embrace the way,
In sincerity, we find our eternal stay.
For in our speech, His light will shine,
In every heart, His truth divine. Amen.
