The Book of Genesis Chapter Three V- 14 and 15

14 Then the LORD God said to the snake: Because you have done this, cursed are you among all the animals, tame or wild; On your belly you shall crawl, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; They will strike at your head, while you strike at their heel.

Genesis 3:15-16 is a critical passage in Scripture, often referred to as the "Protoevangelium," or the "first gospel." In these verses, God announces consequences following the Fall, but in verse 15, He also speaks of enmity between the serpent and the woman, indicating that her offspring will ultimately crush the serpent's head. This verse has been pivotal in Catholic teaching, as it foreshadows the victory of Christ over sin and Satan and highlights the pivotal role of the Virgin Mary in salvation history.

The Catholic Church teaches that Mary is the new Eve, whose obedience contrasts with Eve's disobedience. In her acceptance of the Annunciation, Mary becomes the vessel for Christ, whose redemptive act defeats sin and evil. Thus, her role is central to the salvation narrative, portraying her as the one who, through her divine Son, helps to fulfill God's promise of redemption.

This theological importance is visually echoed in the Marian statues found in churches and homes worldwide, often depicting Mary stepping on a serpent. This symbolic imagery serves multiple purposes: it represents her triumph over evil, her role in crushing Satan's power through her faithful cooperation with God's plan, and the assurance of victory that all believers can cling to. The serpent, representing sin and temptation, is depicted as being subdued beneath Mary's foot, signifying the power of grace manifest through her.

The depiction of Mary with the serpent under her feet not only honors her unique role as the Mother of God but also serves as a source of inspiration for the faithful. It reminds us Christians of the ongoing struggle against evil and sin while assuring them of Mary's intercession and the ultimate victory of Christ achieved through her. In doing so, these images reinforce a central tenet of Catholic faith: the redemptive power of God's grace, culminating in the victory of good over evil. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

02-15-2025 Genesis 3 v1516

**On Your Belly Shall You Crawl**

In shadows deep, where darkness grew,

A promise formed, though loss was near,

The serpent's hiss, a tale untrue,

But hope emerged in faith, truth not fear.

The Woman stands with strength anew,

Against the foe, she’ll make a way,

Her offspring bold, the battle due,

To bring forth light, to shatter gray.

Through ages long, her truth will shine,

In every heart, her role embraced,

With love divine, the world’s design,

In Christ, the victory is traced. Amen.
