The Book of Psalms Chapter 17 Verses 1 thru 15

1 A prayer of David. Hear, LORD, my plea for justice; pay heed to my cry; Listen to my prayer from lips without guile. 2 From you let my vindication come; your eyes see what is right. 3 You have tested my heart, searched it in the night. You have tried me by fire but find no malice in me. My mouth has not transgressed 4 as others often do. As your lips have instructed me, I have kept from the way of the lawless. 5 My steps have kept to your paths; my feet have not faltered. 6 I call upon you; answer me, O God. Turn your ear to me; hear my speech. 7 Show your wonderful mercy, you who deliver with your right arm those who seek refuge from their foes. 8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings 9 from the wicked who despoil me. My ravenous enemies press upon me; 10 they close their hearts, they fill their mouths with proud roaring. 11 Their steps even now encircle me; they watch closely, keeping low to the ground, 12 Like lions eager for prey, like a young lion lurking in ambush. 13 Rise, O LORD, confront and cast them down; rescue my soul from the wicked. 14 Slay them with your sword; with your hand, LORD, slay them; snatch them from the world in their prime. Their bellies are being filled with your friends; their children are satisfied too, for they share what is left with their young. 15 I am just let me see your face; when I awake, let me be filled with your presence.

In Psalm 17, verses 1-15, the psalmist emerges as a sincere seeker, reaching out to God in a moment of desperation. This heartfelt prayer encapsulates a deep yearning for divine justice and protection against adversaries. The opening verses reveal a profound trust in God, as the psalmist invites the Lord to listen and respond to his cries for help. His appeal is not merely a request for deliverance; it reflects a deep assurance in God's faithfulness.

As we delve deeper into this passage, we encounter themes of righteousness and reliance on God's unwavering mercy. The psalmist reaffirms that those who stand firm in their faith, surrendered to the joy of salvation, will experience the Lord's grace in their lives. It is a reminder that our struggles do not go unnoticed by the Almighty. He is both a refuge and a source of strength for those who remain steadfast in their belief.

Furthermore, the psalmist acknowledges that although the world may seem dark and filled with turmoil, God’s watchful eyes are upon His faithful. The promise of eternal life is a shining beacon for believers, encouraging us to trust in His plans even when we cannot see the way ahead. We are called to rest in the assurance that His mercy is boundless and that our faith will ultimately lead us to joy and fulfillment in His presence.

In closing, Psalm 17 beautifully encapsulates a plea for justice alongside a confident declaration of faith. Let us remember that the Lord will show His wonderful mercy toward those who believe. As we remain steadfast in our walk with Him, we can rejoice in the unshakeable promise of life eternal. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

07-08-2025 Psalm 17 v0115

**Rescue My Soul From the Wicked**

In shadows deep, my heart does cry,

O Lord, my refuge, hear my sigh.

With earnest plea, I seek Your face,

In faith I stand, upheld by grace.

Against the tide of foes that rise,

Their words like daggers, filled with lies.

Yet in Your arms, I find my peace,

Your love, my fortress, shall never cease.

Judge me, O Lord, with purest light,

For I have sought to walk in right.

In whispers soft, Your voice I hear,

A gentle presence, ever near.

You guard my soul, my heart, my way,

Your mercy shines, a bright new day.

Though trials come and tempests roar,

I trust in You, my evermore.

With gratitude, my eyes behold

The wonders of Your grace untold.

For those who seek, who long to know,

The joy of life, Your love bestows.

So let me dwell in Your embrace,

To know the depths of boundless grace.

In faith I rise, my spirit free,

In life eternal, Lord, always with Thee. Amen.
