The First Letter to the Corinthians 12 Verses 3 thru 11
3 Therefore, I tell you that nobody speaking by the spirit of God says, “Jesus be accursed.” And no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the holy Spirit. 4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; 5 there are different forms of service but the same Lord; 6 there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. 7 To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. 8 To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9 to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; 10 to another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes.”
Today, as we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, we commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, marking the birth of the Church. This day is not only a reminder of the transformative power of the Holy Spirit but also an invitation to reflect on the gifts that God bestows upon each believer. In 1 Corinthians 12:3-11, the Apostle Paul eloquently explains the diversity of spiritual gifts that are foundational to the life of a Christian community.
Paul begins by emphasizing the importance of acknowledging the lordship of Jesus Christ, as no one can genuinely proclaim Jesus as Lord without the Holy Spirit. This profound truth positions us to understand the significance of the gifts that follow. Each spiritual gift—be it wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues, or interpretation of tongues—serves a unique role in the body of Christ. They are not for self-glorification but for the edification and enrichment of the entire community.
These gifts manifest the rich diversity of God's grace, creating a harmonious and vibrant Church where each member is invaluable. They foster unity among believers, empowering us to live out our faith with joy and purpose. When we operate in our spiritual gifts, we not only contribute to the well-being of others but also experience a deeper sense of peace and fulfillment in our own lives.
Living in the joy of salvation means embracing these gifts, allowing them to flow through us as we serve our communities and reflect God’s love. As we use our unique gifts in love, we cultivate an environment where others can encounter the transformative love of Christ.
This Pentecost, let us be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit, ready to receive and utilize the spiritual gifts bestowed upon us. May we find peace in knowing that we are called to be vessels of joy, sharing God's grace with the world around us. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Same Spirit Produces all of These**
In unity we gather, hearts entwined,
With spirits bold, a truth divine.
No one speaks of Jesus without grace,
The Spirit leads us, in love we embrace.
Each gift is given, a sacred share,
Wisdom and knowledge, beyond compare.
With faith that moves mountains, strong and true,
Healing and miracles in all that we do.
Prophecies spoken, revealing His plan,
Discerning the spirits as only He can.
Languages blossom, in tongues we ignite,
Interpretation brings understanding to light.
Diverse as the flowers that bloom in the field,
Each one a treasure, God’s promise revealed.
Together we function, one body in grace,
In Christ, our connection, a warm, loving place.
When we use our gifts, joy spills from our hearts,
Sharing in Savior’s work, each plays a part.
In peace, we are woven, a tapestry bright,
Reflecting His glory, dispelling the night.
So let us rejoice on this Pentecost day,
For the Spirit ignites us, guiding our way.
In love and in service, let our voices blend,
For together, in Christ, we find peace without end. Amen.
