The Gospel of Luke 6 v- 39 thru 42

39 And he told them a parable, “Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? 40 No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher. 41 Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’ when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye.”

Luke presents a profound teaching of Jesus that emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, humility, and discernment in our relationships with others. In this passage, Jesus uses the metaphor of a blind person leading another blind person, illustrating the folly of not recognizing one’s own limitations and shortcomings. This imagery serves as a warning against the dangers of hypocrisy and judgment.

Jesus asks, "How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye?" The call to self-examination is crucial; it challenges believers to cultivate humility and introspection.

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. **No disciple is superior to the teacher**

In the light of wisdom, Jesus spoke,

A parable of sight, a gentle poke.

“Can the blind lead the blind?” He asked with care,

A call to see, to ponder, to beware.

With a plank in our eye, we often cannot see,

The speck in our brother’s eye seems clear as can be.

Yet, how can we judge, how can we decree,

When our own faults are the ones that we seem to flee?

“First, tend to your heart, let truth take its place,

Remove your own burdens, embrace grace’s face.

Then with clearer vision, approach your dear friend,

To help him with love, to guide him to mend.”

Oh, the dance of humility, a delicate art,

To recognize our flaws is to open the heart.

In the mirror of grace, we find our own way,

To shine light on others, not lead them astray.

So let us reflect, before pointing the way,

In kindness and mercy, let our actions convey,

For in lifting each other, we find our own peace,

In the truth of our journey, may judgment cease.

Through the lens of compassion, may we strive to be,

A community grounded in love’s harmony.

For we’re all just wanderers, seeking the light,

Together we flourish, together in His might. Amen.
