The Gospel of Luke 7 v- 47 thru 50

47 So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; hence, she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little. 48 He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” 49 The others at table said to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” 50 But he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Are you aware that you need mercy? Today Luke recounts a powerful moment in the ministry of Jesus, illustrating themes of forgiveness, grace, and the transformative power of love and His mercy. In this passage, Jesus is dining at the home of a Pharisee named Simon when a woman, known for her sinful life, enters the scene. She approaches Jesus, weeping, and begins to wash His feet with her tears, wipe them with her hair, and anoint them with expensive perfume.

Jesus addresses Simon, revealing a profound truth: "Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little." Here, Jesus emphasizes that the depth of one’s love and gratitude is directly related to the awareness of one’s need for forgiveness. The woman’s actions demonstrate her profound recognition of the mercy she has received, contrasting sharply with Simon, who remains judgmental and oblivious to his own shortcomings.

Jesus then assures the woman, "Your sins are forgiven," affirming her worth and the radical nature of divine grace. This declaration not only liberates her from her past but also challenges societal norms regarding sin and redemption. The passage concludes with Jesus proclaiming that her faith has saved her, encouraging her to go in peace.

Through this encounter, Luke 7:47-50 highlights the idea that true love is born from an understanding of forgiveness. It serves as a reminder that all are invited to experience grace, regardless of their past. The narrative invites us believers to reflect on our own relationships with God and others, urging us to embrace a love that flows from a heart aware of its need for mercy. Are you aware of the mercy you need? Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Ephesians 6:17-20

09-19-2024 Luke 7 V-4750

**Your faith has save you**

In a humble home where the candles glow,

A Pharisee watches, his heart cold as stone.

Yet a woman steps forth, with tears in her eyes,

Her spirit laid bare, her heart filled with sighs.

With each gentle drop that falls on His feet,

Her hair flowing down as a soft, tender sheet,

She washes away all her sorrow and shame,

A love so profound, it ignites like a flame.

The perfume she brings, costly, rich, and rare,

The room holds its breath, as the moments lay bare,

She pours out her heart in a fragrant embrace,

In the presence of mercy, she finds her true place.

“Simon, my friend,” Jesus speaks with a grace,

This woman, though judged, has found her own space,

“Whoever is forgiven, loves deeply, you see.

In the depths of her sin, she’s been set free.”

Her sins, like a river, have flowed from her soul,

He whispers to her, “Your faith has made you whole,”

Yet in that sweet moment, she’s made a new.

Go in peace, for your heart is now pure and true.”

So let us remember, in our own silent night,

For in recognizing our darkness, we find light,

The love that forgives, that heals every scar.

His grace pours like perfume, wherever we are. Amen.
