The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 4 Verse 1 thru 11
1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2 He fasted for forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was hungry.3 The tempter approached and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.” 4 He said in reply, “It is written: ‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city, and made him stand on the parapet of the temple, 6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you’ and ‘with their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.’” 7 Jesus answered him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.’” 8 Then the devil took him up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence, 9 and he said to him, “All these I shall give to you, if you will prostrate yourself and worship me.” 10 At this, Jesus said to him, “Get away, Satan! It is written: ‘The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.’” 11 Then the devil left him and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
In Matthew 4:1-11, we encounter a pivotal moment in the life of Jesus, where He faces temptation in the wilderness. After fasting for forty days and nights, Jesus is approached by the devil, who attempts to exploit His hunger, challenge His identity, and lure Him with worldly power. Satan’s tactics are insidious; he suggests that Jesus should take shortcuts to fulfill His divine mission, offering Him immediate gratification over spiritual truth.
This passage serves as a stark reminder that the devil will tempt us, too. Just as he confronted Jesus, he will shove various distractions and alluring promises in our faces, urging us to seek fulfillment through paths that seem easier or more appealing. He'll try to convince us that his way is the best way to achieve our goals, attempting to lead us away from God’s truth. These temptations come in different forms, whether it’s the lure of fame, success, or falsehoods that counter God’s Word.
However, we must remember that the only true source of life, hope, and salvation is found in Christ alone. In Him, we encounter not just temporal satisfaction but eternal life and forgiveness of sins. It is vital to cling to this truth, for our strength comes from our relationship with Jesus.
Thus, I urge you: do not engage with the devil or entertain his lies. Instead, turn your heart and mind fully toward Christ, immerse yourself in Scripture, and rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength. Remember, victory over temptation lies in your steadfast commitment to Christ. Stand firm in faith, for in Him, we find everything we need—eternal life, forgiveness, and the promise of His abiding presence. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. NOVENA DAY ONE FOR THE REPOSE OF THE SOUL OF ROY WIGGINS. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

02-22-2026 Matthew 4 v0111
**Get Away Satan**
In barren lands where shadows creep,
The Spirit led Him, still and deep,
Forty days, with hunger's sting,
The Son of God, our offering.
In silence broken, whispered lies,
To challenge faith, the tempter tries,
“Turn stone to bread, your hunger cease,”
Yet He responds with words of peace.
“Not by bread alone shall man thrive,”
From scripture’s truth, His spirit alive,
Each promise held, a shield and sword,
In weakness found, He calls on the Lord.
“From lofty heights, cast yourself down,
Angels will catch, you won’t drown,”
But wisdom speaks, "Do not test,
The Lord your God; in Him find rest."
The kingdoms offered, gold and might,
Bow down to me and claim the night,
Yet bravely stands, our Savior bold,
“Worship the Lord, let His truth unfold.”
Through trials faced, the path laid bare,
His steadfast heart, beyond compare,
The tempter fled, his schemes undone,
In victory’s light, the battle won.
With lessons learned in desert's breath,
A testament to life over Satan’s death,
For in our trials, we too shall find,
The grace that guards both heart and mind. Amen.
