The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 21 Verse 33 thru 46
33 “Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey. 34 When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce. 35 But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned. 36 Again he sent other servants, more numerous than the first ones, but they treated them in the same way. 37 Finally, he sent his son to them, thinking, ‘They will respect my son.’ 38 But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance.’ 39 They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. 40 What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?” 41 They answered him, “He will put those wretched men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the proper times.” 42 Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the scriptures: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes’?43 Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit. 44 [The one who falls on this stone will be dashed to pieces; and it will crush anyone on whom it falls.]” 45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew that he was speaking about them. 46 And although they were attempting to arrest him, they feared the crowds, for they regarded him as a prophet.
Matthew 21:33-46 presents the Parable of the Wicked Tenants, a profound teaching that illustrates God's enduring patience and the dire consequences of rejecting His message. In this parable, a landowner represents God, who entrusts His vineyard to tenants—symbolizing the religious leaders of the time. The landowner expects to receive fruit from his vineyard; however, the tenants continually refuse to render what is due, even going so far as to mistreat and kill the landowner’s messengers, culminating in their rejection of the son.
This parable serves as a mirror reflecting our own lives. When we surrender to God—yielding our hearts and intentions—something transformative occurs within us: we begin to produce the fruit of the Spirit. A true surrender leads to a life characterized by love, joy, peace, and kindness. It highlights the importance of allowing God's authority to reign in our lives, thereby recognizing that we are stewards of His creation, called to cultivate the gifts and blessings He has bestowed upon us.
The consequence of refusing to produce fruit is severe, as Jesus warns that the kingdom of God will be taken from those who neglect their responsibilities and given to others who will bear fruit. Surrendering to God means embracing His will, supporting the work of His kingdom, and actively participating in His divine plan.
As we reflect on this message, let us remember that true surrender does not mean loss, but rather the pathway to abundant life. When we allow ourselves to be transformed by God and produce the fruit He desires, we open the door to fully entering His kingdom. Let us commit ourselves to this journey of surrender, trusting that we will bear the fruit that glorifies Him. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. ** The Kingdom Of God Will Be Taken Away From You**
In a vineyard lush, the tale unfolds,
A parable rich, with meaning behold,
A landowner's dream, planted with care,
Vines and a watchtower, beauty laid bare.
He sent out his servants, to gather the yield,
But the tenants, ungrateful, their hearts were sealed,
They beat and they stoned, cast the messengers low,
The owner, perplexed, found no fruit to show.
"Surely they'll honor my son, my true heir,"
He thought with a hope that hung in the air.
Yet the tenants conspired, their greed took the lead,
"Let’s kill him, they plotted; our claim will succeed."
So they took him and tossed him outside of the gate,
Thinking their actions would seal their own fate.
But the stone that was rejected, became the cornerstone,
In the eyes of the builders, injustice was shown.
"Have you not read? The kingdom shall shift,
From those who reject to those who uplift.
For the fruit of the spirit is meant to produce,
And to all who are faithful, the blessings profuse."
So heed this old story, let it take root,
In the heart of the faithful, let love be the fruit.
For the vineyard is open, the call ever clear,
In the grace of the Father, let us draw eternally near. Amen.
