The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 2 Verse One thru Twelve
1 When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.” 3 When King Herod heard this, he was greatly troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it has been written through the prophet: 6 ‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; since from you shall come a ruler, who is to shepherd my people Israel.’” 7 Then Herod called the magi secretly and ascertained from them the time of the star’s appearance. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search diligently for the child. When you have found him, bring me word, that I too may go and do him homage.” 9 After their audience with the king they set out. And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. 10 They were overjoyed at seeing the star,11 and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way.
Matthew 2:1-12 recounts the journey of the Magi, or Wise Men, who follow a star to find the newborn King, Jesus Christ. They arrive in Jerusalem, seeking guidance to locate Him, and eventually find their way to Bethlehem, where they present gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Their journey is not merely one of physical travel; it symbolizes a deep spiritual quest. Upon encountering Jesus, they prostrate themselves, honoring Him with reverence and humility, recognizing His divine kingship.
This act of homage is profound, illustrating the importance of surrendering oneself in reverence to something greater than oneself. The Magi, who were learned and powerful in their own right, did not hesitate to bow down, acknowledging the divine authority of Christ. This beautiful moment of worship prompts us to reflect on our own acts of homage and surrender to Jesus.
Have you ever prostrated yourself in worship, giving homage to Christ, the Savior of the World? This question transcends location and circumstance. Even within the confines of prison walls, the act of surrendering to God's Holy Will can be a powerful expression of faith. In those moments of solitude and reflection, many may find their hearts lifted in homage through prayer and worship, surrendering their struggles and desires to Jesus.
In doing so, they embrace the profound truth that true freedom is found in surrendering to God's love and purpose. It is an invitation to recognize that, regardless of our external circumstances, we can offer our lives as homage to Christ. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

**They Were Overjoyed At Seeing The Star**
In days of old, beneath the starry skies,
Three kings came, seekers wiser than wise,
From distant lands, they journeyed far and wide,
In quest of truth, with faith as their guide.
They followed a star that shone so bright,
A beacon of hope in the deep of night,
To the land of Judea, their hearts did lead,
To find the King, the world’s greatest need.
In Jerusalem, they asked with intent,
“Where is he born, this King heaven-sent?”
Yet Herod, with fear, sought his power to keep,
Plotted and schemed, for his reign was deep.
But the sages, unshaken, continued their quest,
They sought the true King with hearts filled with zest.
With whispers of prophets, they found the way,
To Bethlehem's humble birth, where the angels did play.
They entered the stable, in awe and delight,
The child of promise, in soft candlelight,
Gold, frankincense, myrrh—gifts fit for a king,
Presented with reverence, their homage they bring.
Then warned in a dream, they chose another road,
Returning no more, to the tyrant's abode.
In their hearts they carried the light of the night,
A story of love, of hope shining bright.
So let us remember, in our own way we seek,
The star of our lives, when the world feels bleak.
Like the wise men of old, may we also be guided,
To love, joy, and peace, where grace collided. Amen.
