The Gospel of Mark Chapter 4 Verse 35 thru 41

35 On that day, as evening drew on, he said to them, “Let us cross to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up.38 Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm. 40 Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” 41 They were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”

In Mark 4:35-41, we encounter a powerful story that illustrates both the authority of Jesus and the nature of faith. As evening falls, Jesus tells His disciples to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. While they sail, a furious storm threatens to engulf their boat. Waves crash and winds howl, yet Jesus remains asleep on a cushion, seemingly oblivious to the chaos around Him.

In a moment of panic, the disciples awaken Jesus, asking Him if He cares that they are perishing. Their fear is palpable. They have witnessed miracles but still struggle to trust in His power amidst the storm. Jesus rises, looks at the raging elements, and commands, “Quiet! Be still!” Immediately, the winds cease, and the waters become calm.

After calming the storm, Jesus turns to His disciples, questioning them, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” His words linger, challenging us to reflect on our own faith in times of turmoil. The disciples, filled with awe and wonder, pondered who this man was, even the winds and waves obey Him.

This passage invites us to examine our responses to life’s storms. Like the disciples, we often let fear overshadow our faith. Jesus’ command to the winds can echo in our hearts: “Quiet! Be still!” He offers us peace amidst our struggles, prompting us to remember His sovereignty. In my home, we have a sign that reads, “Don’t let them tell you how big the storm is you tell them how big your God is.”

So, I ask you, dear readers, do you not yet have faith? In moments of doubt and fear, let us remember His words and find comfort in His calming presence. Faith is not the absence of storms, but the courage to trust as we navigate through the storms. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. Ephesians 6:17-20

**Do You Not Yet Have Faith**

When evening fell, the skies turned gray,

The Savior spoke, “Let’s cross today.”

The disciples climbed into the boat,

While whispered winds began to gloat.

The calm gave way to tempest’s roar,

As chaos danced upon the shore.

Fear gripped their hearts, as billows crashed,

In darkness deep, their hopes were smashed.

Yet in the stern, through torrents wide,

The Teacher slept, their faithful Guide.

“Do you not care?” the disciples cried,

As raging waves their fears they did not hide.

With voice like thunder, calm He spoke,

“Quiet! Be still,” He said, as tempests broke.

The winds obeyed, the waters ceased,

Their trembling hearts found joyful peace.

“O, men of little faith!” He chided,

Their doubts in fear had long abided.

In awe they gazed, their hearts aflame,

“Who is this man?” they whispered His name. Jesus! Amen.
