The Gospel of Luke Chapter 4 Verses 38 thru 41
38 After he left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon. Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her. 39 He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and waited on them. 40 At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him. He laid his hands on each of them and cured them. 41 And demons also came out from many, shouting, “You are the Son of God.” But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Messiah.
In Luke 4:38-41, we encounter a powerful depiction of Jesus’ authority and compassion as he begins his ministry in Galilee. This passage details two significant events: the healing of Simon’s mother-in-law and the exorcism of evil spirits.
The scene begins with Jesus entering Simon Peter's house, where he finds Simon’s mother-in-law suffering from a high fever. This encounter highlights Jesus' willingness to engage with individuals and respond to personal needs. Without hesitation, he stands over her, rebukes the fever, and instantly heals her. The text illustrates not only Jesus’ miraculous healing power but also his attentiveness to the family and the domestic sphere, bridging the sacred with the ordinary.
After her healing, Simon’s mother-in-law immediately begins to serve them, signifying a restoration to health and the communal spirit of hospitality that was integral to the culture of the time. Her response reflects the joy and gratitude that accompany divine intervention.
The scene shifts as the sun sets; people from all around bring their sick and possessed to Jesus. The passage states that he lays his hands on them and heals them, emphasizing his role as a healer and deliverer. Moreover, Jesus rebukes demons, affirming his authority over the spiritual realm. The demons recognize Jesus as the Son of God, revealing both his identity and the recognition of his divine power by supernatural beings.
Ultimately, Luke 4:38-41 showcases Jesus as a compassionate healer and powerful deliverer. This segment of scripture invites readers to reflect on Jesus' mission: to bring hope, healing, and restoration. It underscores the transformative impact of encountering Christ and sets the stage for his continued ministry to all who seek him. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**They Knew He Was the Messiah**
In Galilee's humble, sunlit home,
Where shadows faded, and sickness roamed,
A fever gripped, a mother lay frail,
Yet hope dawned bright; the darkness would pale.
With gentle might, He entered the door,
Compassion ablaze, He could give no more.
He stood o’er her bed, the fever He’d chase,
With a whispered command, He infused her with grace.
She rose from her sickness, her heart full of light,
Restored to her kin, in the soft evening light.
With joy in her spirit, she began to serve,
A testament true to the love He preserves.
As day turned to dusk, the crowds gathered near,
With burdens and woes, they brought forth their fear.
He healed every body, He cast out in pain,
With hands laid in blessing, new life would remain.
The demons all trembled, recognizing their King,
For in His presence, their darkness would cling.
“Son of God,” they wailed, “from us set you free!”
Yet Jesus, in power, proclaimed victory.
In this sacred moment, compassion unfurled,
Jesus embraced the broken of the world.
A healer, a Savior, with love like no other,
He brings hope and light, our heavenly Mother. Amen.
