The Gospel of Luke Chapter 2 Verse 22 thru 35
22 When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, 23 just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,” 24 and to offer the sacrifice of “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,” in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord. 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. 27 He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, 28 he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: 29 “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”33 The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; 34 and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted 35 (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
In Luke 2:22-35, the narrative centers on the presentation of Jesus at the Temple, a significant event that highlights both the fulfillment of the Law and the recognition of Jesus’ messianic role. According to Jewish tradition, Mary and Joseph brought their newborn son to the Temple in Jerusalem to perform the rite of purification and to present Him to the Lord, as commanded in the Law of Moses.
During this encounter, they meet Simeon, a devout and righteous man who had been promised by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before seeing the Messiah. When he sees Jesus, he takes the infant in his arms and praises God, stating, "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace." This moment signifies the culmination of Simeon's lifelong hope and expectation, emphasizing the joy and fulfillment that Jesus brings.
Simeon then declares Jesus to be “a light for revelation to the Gentiles,” alluding to the universal impact of Christ’s mission. This prophetic utterance underscores the theme of inclusion and the extension of God's salvation beyond Israel to all nations. Furthermore, Simeon’s words also hint at the future challenges that Jesus will face, stating that He is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, revealing the divisive nature of His ministry.
Finally, Simeon addresses Mary directly, foretelling that a sword will pierce her soul, indicating the profound suffering and sacrifice that lies ahead for both her and her son. This passage encapsulates the intertwined themes of joy and sorrow, hope and sacrifice, marking a pivotal moment in the early life of Jesus while foreshadowing His redemptive work. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
12-29-2025 Luke 2 v2235
**A Light For Revelation To The Gentiles**
In the temple's sacred hall, where shadows softly weave,
A mother and her child arrived, in faith they did believe.
Mary, young and strong, with eyes that sparkled bright,
Carried Jesus in her arms, a beacon of pure light.
The law of Moses beckoned, for the days of birth were done,
To purify and offer gifts, a new chapter had begun.
In humble hands, an offering, a pair of doves in flight,
Unknowing, they would gift the world a love that shines so bright.
Then came old Simeon, with wisdom in his heart,
Promised by the Spirit, he awaited this dear part.
With eyes that had seen ages, and hopes that soared on high,
He sensed the moment’s magic, as the holy child passed by.
"At last, my eyes have witnessed what generations sought,
The light for revelation, the savior long forethought.
A glory for the nations, a joy for Israel's kin,
This child will change the story, the journey to begin."
But shadows loomed around him, a warning intertwined,
For many hearts would falter, their paths would be unkind.
Yet in this sacred moment, under heaven’s watchful gaze,
Hope breathed through the temple, igniting faith's bright blaze.
So in the heart of Simeon, and in the love they shared,
A legacy was woven, a promise was declared.
For in the child of Mary, the world would find its way,
Through darkness into daylight, love guiding every day. Amen.
