The Gospel of Luke Chapter 19 Verse One thru Ten

1 He came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town. 2 Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man, 3 was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way. 5 When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 And he came down quickly and received him with joy. 7 When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.” 8 But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.”

In Luke 19:1-10, we encounter the transformative story of Zacchaeus, a tax collector despised by his community. This passage not only reveals the heart of Jesus but also illustrates His mission to seek and save the lost. Zacchaeus, small in stature and burdened by the weight of his sins, climbs a sycamore tree just to catch a glimpse of Jesus as He passes through Jericho. Despite the crowd’s disdain for him, Jesus stops, looks up, and invites himself to Zacchaeus’s house. This moment embodies grace; Jesus reaches out to the very individual most people would overlook or scorn.

The invitation to Zacchaeus signifies more than just a social visit. It represents Jesus's profound willingness to enter into the brokenness of our lives and dwell in the very places we might hide from others, including our own house of sin. Jesus did not come for the righteous or the perfect; He came for those lost in darkness, longing for redemption. As He enters Zacchaeus’s home, transformative healing begins. The tax collector, once a symbol of greed and betrayal, repents and pledges to give half of his possessions to the poor and repay fourfold anyone he has cheated. This change reflects the incredible power of Jesus's acceptance and love.

The climax of this passage is found in Jesus's declaration: “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.” In our own lives, this truth resonates deeply. No matter how far we stray, Jesus desires to enter our hearts and bring us back to life. He meets us in our sin, offering redemption and the promise of eternal salvation. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. Ephesians 6:17-20

11-18-2025 Luke 19 v0110

**Today Salvation Has Come To This House**

In Jericho, a bustling street,

A tax collector seeking to complete.

Zacchaeus climbed a sycamore tree,

To catch a glimpse of Jesus for free.

His stature short, yet heart so bold,

Desire for more than gold could hold.

Through crowds of scorn and judgment thrown,

He watched the Savior, who would rid his scorn,

Yet little did he know in time,

The love of Christ would share the Sublime.

“Come down,” said Jesus, eyes that gleamed,

“I'll dine with you—it’s grace that’s dreamed.”

The whispers swirled like autumn leaves,

“Why dine with one so lost he heaves?”

Yet Christ’s embrace transformed that night,

And brought to light what grace could right.

Repentance bloomed, a heart restored,

In laughter, love, the void ignored.

So Zacchaeus gave away half his gains,

More to the poor, a vow to overcome his disdain.

What was once broken filled with hope,

A heart renewed, a life to cope.

Salvation found him branch and root,

A life once lost now bearing fruit.

For Jesus came to seek the lost,

In every heart, Salvation no cost.

He shows us all that through the storms,

Love whispers true, and faith adorns. Amen.
