The Gospel of Luke Chapter 17 Verse 11 thru 19
11 As he continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was entering a village, ten lepers met [him]. They stood at a distance from him 13 and raised their voice, saying, “Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!” 14 And when he saw them, he said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” As they were going they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; 16 and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. 17 Jesus said in reply, “Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? 18 Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?” 19 Then he said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.”
In Luke 17:11-19, we encounter the powerful story of ten lepers who, from a distance, call out to Jesus for mercy. Lepers in ancient times were ostracized, representing sin and societal rejection. Yet, Jesus, moved by compassion, instructs them to show themselves to the priests, a directive that embodies both faith and obedience. As they journey toward the priests, all ten are miraculously healed. However, only one returns to thank Jesus—a Samaritan, representing the outsiders who often recognize the depth of grace more profoundly.
This emotional narrative emphasizes the significance of gratitude and faith. The lepers’ initial call for mercy resonates with all of us, for we too long for healing in various aspects of our lives—be it physical, emotional, or spiritual. Yet, amidst the healing, only the Samaritan acknowledges the source of his salvation. Jesus’s words, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?” remind us of the importance of returning to Him with a grateful heart.
In our daily lives, we face moments where our faith can either falter or flourish. Like the one leper who returned, we are called to seek God’s Word and cultivate a spirit of charity in our relationships. As we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we deepen our understanding of His boundless love and mercy, which empowers us to live generously and joyfully. Always returning with a grateful heart.
May we never forget that it is our faith that saves us. Each day presents an opportunity to grow closer to Him, to embody His teachings, and to serve those around us. Let us cherish our salvation, nurturing a heart filled with gratitude and an unwavering commitment to living out His Word. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. Ephesians 6:17-20
11-12-2025 Luke 17 v1119
**Your Faith Has Saved You Get Up and Go**
In Galilee’s embrace, they walk the way,
With voices strained, in their disarray.
Ten lepers cried, “Master, hear our plea!”
Hoping for healing, they looked to be free.
“Go show yourselves!” came His calm decree,
With faith ignited, they turned, swift with glee.
To priestly watch, their wounds would reveal;
Each step a promise, each heartbeat a seal.
As they rushed forth, from darkness to light,
Yet amidst the joy, in the purest of sight.
Skin returned as radiant as the dawn;
One turned back, to where the Master shone.
With gratitude rushing, he fell to his knees,
“Thank You, O Lord, for You’ve met my needs.”
A grateful heart beat in humble refrain,
In joy overflowing, he sang through the pain.
“Were there not ten, where are the nine?”
Healing received without thought for the sign.
Christ questioned the air, with eyes full of grace,
Yet one returned, and found his true place.
“Your faith has saved you,” the Savior proclaimed,
Not just in the body, but in the reclaimed.
In the act of thanksgiving, true wholeness begins,
A heart that remembers the love that out wins. Amen.
