The Gospel of Luke Chapter 14 Verse 12 thru 14

12 Then he said to the host who invited him, “When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors, in case they may invite you back and you have repayment. 13 Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; 14 blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

In Luke 14:12-14, Jesus provides profound guidance on the nature of true hospitality and generosity. He advises, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or your relatives, or your rich neighbors. If you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

This passage challenges our conventional understanding of social gatherings and reciprocity. Instead of surrounding ourselves with those who can return our invitations, Jesus offers a radical vision of inclusion that reaches out to the marginalized and the needy. The act of inviting the poor and disabled is not only an expression of kindness but a manifestation of the heart of God, who delights in lifting up those who are often overlooked by society.

By inviting those who cannot repay you, you embody the love and grace that Jesus extended during His time on Earth. This act of selflessness reveals a deeper understanding of what it means to be blessed. The blessings we receive when we serve others extend far beyond material or social returns. They are rooted in the joy that comes from putting others' needs before our own, reflecting the very nature of Christ.

Moreover, Jesus reminds us that the true reward for such kindness awaits us in the resurrection. This promise shifts our perspective—no longer are we focused solely on worldly gains or reaping immediate returns but rather on the eternal rewards that come from living a life of compassion and generosity.

So, let us embrace this call to invite those who may never be able to repay us, for in doing so, we align ourselves with the heart of God. Blessed indeed will you be for your willingness to serve the least among us. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

11-03-2025 Luke 14 v1214

**Blessed Indeed You Will Be**

In quiet corners where shadows dwell,

He speaks of kindness, hearts compelled,

"Invite not those who can repay,

But let the poor fill your day."

The hungry souls, the lost and meek,

In their soft smiles, His mercy speaks.

With every plate laid with love’s embrace,

We find in service our truest grace.

For when we gather, hand in hand,

With those who struggle to just stand,

The blessings flow like rivers wide,

In giving, we find the Savior’s side.

So let our tables overflow with grace,

For every heart that seeks a place.

And in the end, when all is known,

The love we share will be our own. Amen.
