The Gospel of John Chapter 13 Verses 21 thru 30

21 When he had said this, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, “Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” 22 The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant. 23 One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at Jesus’ side. 24 So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant. 25 He leaned back against Jesus’ chest and said to him, “Master, who is it?” 26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it.” So he dipped the morsel and [took it and] handed it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot. 27 After he took the morsel, Satan entered him. So Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.” 28 [Now] none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him. 29 Some thought that since Judas kept the money bag, Jesus had told him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or to give something to the poor. 30 So he took the morsel and left at once. And it was night.

In John 13:21-30, we witness a profound moment during the Last Supper, where Jesus reveals His awareness of Judas Iscariot's impending betrayal. The passage captures an intimate and tense atmosphere as Jesus, troubled in spirit, discloses that one of His disciples will betray Him. Each disciple, including Judas, is perplexed, demonstrating the depth of trust and fellowship that existed among them. Despite knowing the heart of Judas and the dark path he was about to take, Jesus continues to extend grace and compassion.

This moment serves a dual purpose. First, it affirms Jesus's divinity—His wisdom. He is fully aware of every thought and action, even ones that will lead to His suffering. This knowledge underscores the gravity of His sacrifice, as He willingly walks toward betrayal, pain, and ultimately, the Cross. It reminds us that He seeks to fulfill the Will of God, even through the actions of those who oppose Him.

Secondly, this passage illustrates the nature of divine forgiveness. Judas’s betrayal was a significant act, yet Jesus's love remained steadfast. Even knowing Judas would turn against Him for mere silver, Jesus does not retract His offer of mercy. This profound truth is vital for us—it echoes through the ages, extending an invitation to everyone who feels they have strayed or betrayed their own values.

We learn that no betrayal is too great for God’s forgiveness. Despite our failures and shortcomings, Jesus’s mercy remains available, encouraging us to turn back to Him. In reflecting on this passage, we grasp the depth of His love: to forgive, even that which seems unforgivable, as He seeks to accomplish His eternal Will. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Novena Johnny Day One. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

05-15-25 John 13 v2130

**Master Who Is It**

In twilight’s glow, the table set with care,

The twelve gathered close in the evening air.

But hearts were troubled, whispers filled the room,

As Jesus spoke, foretelling coming gloom.

“Among you sits the one who’ll turn away,

Betrayed by kiss, a friend to lead astray.”

Each disciple trembled, their hearts gripped with fear,

Could it be I? The question echoed near.

Yet Jesus, knowing every secret thought,

Embraced the one for whom redemption's sought.

His love, unfaltering, though betrayal drew close,

In darkness of the night, a sacrifice chose.

As bread was broken, dipped in shared lament,

The price of mercy through this night was sent.

Judas rose, adorned in shadows deep,

Yet in that moment, love’s promise did not sleep.

Oh, grace that covers sins, both small and great,

No heart too lost, no wound too deep, to sate.

For in the story of the night's decree,

We find that love redeems, and all are free. Amen.
