The Gospel of Luke Chapter 13 V- 34 and 35

34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how many times I yearned to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were unwilling! 35 Behold, your house will be abandoned. [But] I tell you, you will not see me until [the time comes when] you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

Luke 13:34-35 captures a heartbreaking moment in which Jesus laments over Jerusalem, expressing deep sorrow for the city's rejection of Him as the Messiah. In these verses, He says, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!” This reflects the profound relationship between Jesus and His people, highlighting their historical pattern of rejecting divine messengers.

The contrast between Jesus’ longing for Israel and the world’s disdain for this rejection is striking. While Jesus expresses a desire to protect and nurture His people, the broader world often views Israel's failure to recognize the Messiah with scorn. Many see the Jewish rejection of Jesus as a tragic irony, one that has led to centuries of blame and hostility. This narrative has fueled anti-Semitic sentiments, as some factions of Christianity have held Israel accountable for the crucifixion of Christ, ignoring the divine purpose behind the events.

Moreover, the world’s disgust often overlooks the rich tapestry of Jewish history and the prophetic tradition that anticipated the Messiah. Instead of understanding this as a complex spiritual struggle, it is frequently reduced to a simplistic blame game. This not only strips Israel of its historical and theological significance but also neglects the ongoing dialogue of faith and doubt that characterizes the human condition.

In essence, Luke 13:34-35 serves as a powerful reminder of Jesus' compassion for His people, contrasting sharply with the world's often harsh judgment. It calls for a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding Israel's relationship with the Messiah and encourages a more empathetic view that seeks reconciliation rather than condemnation. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

**Jerusalem was Unwilling**

O Jerusalem, city of old,

With stories of prophets, both brave and bold,

You turned from the voice that called from on high,

In anguish I weep, hear the Savior’s sigh.

How often I longed to gather you near,

Like a mother hen, in love, without fear,

To shield you from storms, to cradle your heart,

Yet you chose to wander, to drift, to depart.

The stones of your streets echo cries of the past,

Of prophets rejected, their shadows are cast,

You stoned those who came with a message of grace,

Now I stand here lamenting your lost embrace.

The world looks on, with disdain in their eyes,

At the weight of your choice, the heart’s heavy sighs,

Yet my love remains steadfast, unwavering still,

For the promise of hope, for the hope of goodwill.

O city of sorrow, where hearts turn away,

Can you not see love in the light of the day?

For though you have faltered, and shadows may fall,

My heart beats with mercy, my wish still stands tall.

Return, beloved, to the arms of your King,

For healing and hope in His presence will spring,

O Jerusalem, let the story unfold,

In the warmth of His wings, feel the love that is bold. Amen.
