The Book of Isaiah Chapter 58 Verse 6 thru 12
6 Is this not, rather, the fast that I choose: releasing those bound unjustly, untying the thongs of the yoke; Setting free the oppressed, breaking off every yoke? 7 Is it not sharing your bread with the hungry, bringing the afflicted and the homeless into your house; Clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your wound shall quickly be healed; Your vindication shall go before you, and the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer, you shall cry for help, and he will say: “Here I am!” If you remove the yoke from among you, the accusing finger, and malicious speech; 10 If you lavish your food on the hungry and satisfy the afflicted; Then your light shall rise in the darkness, and your gloom shall become like midday; 11 Then the LORD will guide you always and satisfy your thirst in parched places, will give strength to your bones And you shall be like a watered garden, like a flowing spring whose waters never fail. 12 Your people shall rebuild the ancient ruins; the foundations from ages past you shall raise up; “Repairer of the breach,” they shall call you, “Restorer of ruined dwellings.”
Isaiah 58:6-12 is a powerful passage that speaks to the essence of true fasting and the heart of God’s desire for His people. In these verses, the prophet Isaiah conveys God’s message that authentic worship is not merely about rituals or outward displays of piety but is deeply grounded in acts of justice, compassion, and mercy.
Verse 6 begins by challenging the shallowness of traditional fasting, stating that true fasting is about "loosing the bonds of wickedness" and "undoing the heavy burdens." God calls His people to engage in social action, advocating for the oppressed and addressing systemic injustices. This reflects a profound understanding that spirituality cannot be divorced from ethical living; true devotion manifests in the way we treat others.
The following verses emphasize the need to share food with the hungry, provide shelter for the homeless, and clothe the naked. These tangible acts of kindness are not mere recommendations but divine mandates that highlight the importance of caring for the marginalized. God's people are called to embody His love through practical actions, blurring the lines between sacred and secular life.
Verses 8-12 promise blessings for those who align their lives with this radical call to justice. When people open their hearts and hands to help others, they themselves will experience healing and restoration. God’s presence will shine upon them, guiding them and rebuilding their lives.
Ultimately, Isaiah 58:6-12 serves as a transformative reminder that true discipleship demands an active response to the needs around us, emphasizing that genuine faith exists not only in prayer and worship but also in deeds of love and justice. Through these verses, Isaiah challenges believers to reflect the heart of God in every aspect of their lives. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Novena Day Two for love of James. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Restorer of Ruined Dwellings Here I Am**
Is this the kind of fast I choose,
A day to bow, to wear the blues?
To spread our hands and twist in prayer,
While hearts are distant, unaware?
No, break the chains, release the bound,
Let justice rise, let mercy sound.
Share bread with those who hunger deep,
And bring the lost from shadows' keep.
Clothe the naked, give them care,
Invite the weary, show you’re there.
Then light will break upon the dawn,
And healing grace will lead you on.
Your righteousness will blaze like hearts afire,
As God's own voice ignites your desire.
Call to Him; He’ll answer swift,
He’ll guide your steps, your spirits lift.
You’ll be restored, rebuild the land,
A well of life, a hope so grand.
In places waste, your seeds will grow,
A garden filled with love’s own glow.
In acts of kindness, hearts will mend,
A fast of love that has no end.
For in the serving, joy is found,
In giving, grace, and peace abound.
So let us walk this holy way,
And live the truth we find each day.
For when we care for one another,
We mirror God, our loving Father. Amen.
