The 1st Letter to the Thessalonians Chapter 5 Verses 1 thru 6
1 Concerning times and seasons, brothers, you have no need for anything to be written to you.2 For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night. 3 When people are saying, “Peace and security,” then sudden disaster comes upon them, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness, for that day to overtake you like a thief. 5 For all of you are children of the light and children of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness. 6 Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us stay alert and sober.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, the Apostle Paul addresses the importance of being aware and vigilant as we await the return of Christ. He contrasts the state of those in darkness with those who dwell in the light. He reminds us that we are not caught unaware, like others who remain oblivious to the impending day of the Lord. Instead, as children of the light, we are called to live with hope and assurance—a hope rooted in our faith in Christ.
Paul encourages believers not to let fear or uncertainty about future events deter them. Instead, he urges us to be sober and awake, reminding us that we are equipped to withstand any trials or disasters that may come our way. Our faith in Christ’s grace empowers us, providing a foundation that helps us navigate through life's storms. As we embrace the Light of Christ, we find the strength to rise above adversity, knowing that His love surrounds and protects us.
In a world often shrouded in chaos and darkness, we can take heart in knowing that we are bearers of Christ's light. We are called to shine brightly, not only for our own benefit but for others who are trapped in despair. By reflecting the grace we've received, we offer hope to those still wandering in the shadows.
Let us remain alert, resting in the promise of His return, and living out our faith each day. Our identity as children of the light compels us to share this good news, overcoming any disaster with the assurance that in Christ, where there is light, darkness cannot prevail. Let's walk confidently in His grace, trusting that His light guides our way. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Let Us Stay Alert and Sober**
In shadows deep, the world may dwell,
Where fears abound and doubts rebel,
But we, dear friends, stand firm and bright,
For we are children born of light.
The day of grace is drawing near,
No need for fear; we’ve naught to fear.
For Christ, our hope, shall break the night,
With love that shines and sets us right.
Let not your hearts be filled with dread,
For we walk boldly, where He’s led.
In faith, we rise, prepared to stand,
With grace and mercy close at hand.
So let us wake from slumbered dreams,
And weave our lives with radiant beams.
For darkness fades where love abounds,
In every heart, His peace resounds.
Awake, O light-bearers, arise!
Embrace the dawn and lift your eyes.
Together we’ll endure eternally unite,
For we are children, blessed by His light. Amen.
