The 1st Letter to the Thessalonians Chapter 4 Verses 1 thru 8
1 Finally, brothers, we earnestly ask and exhort you in the Lord Jesus that, as you received from us how you should conduct yourselves to please God—and as you are conducting yourselves—you do so even more. 2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 3 This is the will of God, your holiness: that you refrain from immorality, 4 that each of you know how to acquire a wife for himself in holiness and honor, 5 not in lustful passion as do the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 not to take advantage of or exploit a brother in this matter, for the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you before and solemnly affirmed. 7 For God did not call us to impurity but to holiness. 8 Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not a human being but God, who [also] gives his holy Spirit to you.”
In 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8, the Apostle Paul urges the believers in Thessalonica to pursue holiness in their lives, emphasizing the importance of living in a manner that pleases God. He begins by instructing them to continue growing in their faith and to excel in their conduct, highlighting that spiritual growth is not static but a continual journey. The passage is a reminder that as followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard, one that reflects the character of God.
Paul specifically addresses the topic of sexual morality, urging the Thessalonians to abstain from practices that lead to impurity and sin. He underscores that God’s will is for each believer to be sanctified, to avoid sexual immorality, and to learn to control their bodies in a holy and honorable way. This call to holiness is vital, as it stands in stark contrast to the temptations of a secular world that often promotes impure behaviors as acceptable and normal.
The message is clear: holiness should be our goal, and we must strive to align our lives with God's desires rather than succumbing to societal pressures. Paul reminds us that failing to heed this call is not merely a personal failure but an affront to God Himself, who calls us to live in purity.
As we reflect on these verses, let us commit ourselves to pursuing holiness in all areas of life. May we continuously seek God’s strength to resist temptation and embody the love and grace of Christ. In doing so, we honor not only our relationship with God but also reflect His light to those around us. Let this be our guiding principle—holiness, not impurity. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**God Did Not Call Us to Impurity But Holiness**
In Thessalonica, a message strong,
To walk in love, to right the wrong,
Dear brothers and sisters, heed the call,
To please our God in whom we stand tall.
“Live to abound in faith’s embrace,
Strive for the path of holiness and grace,
In purity, let your hearts reside,
In God's true love, let hope abide.”
Abstain from lust, let not sin sway,
Control your body in a righteous way,
For the Lord has called us, to be set apart,
With every action, reflect a pure heart.
For God’s will is our sanctified quest,
To honor Him in all, to be truly blessed,
Rejecting the ways of the world outside,
In His holy presence, forever to abide.
Let brotherly love be our guiding light,
In unity, let us stand, shining bright,
For each to the other, in kindness we share,
In every moment, let us show we care.
With hearts aligned to the call we hear,
In holiness dwell, let us persevere,
For those who defile, know God’s stern way,
But in purity’s quest, we find hope each day. Amen.
