The 1st Letter to the Corinthians Chapter 1 Verse 10 thru 17
10 I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and in the same purpose. 11 For it has been reported to me about you, my brothers, by Chloe’s people, that there are rivalries among you. 12 I mean that each of you is saying, “I belong to Paul,” or “I belong to Apollos,” or “I belong to Cephas,” or “I belong to Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I give thanks [to God] that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,15 so that no one can say you were baptized in my name. 16 (I baptized the household of Stephanas also; beyond that I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with the wisdom of human eloquence, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.
In 1 Corinthians 1:10-17, the Apostle Paul addresses divisions within the Corinthian church, urging unity among believers. He implores them to speak the same thing and to be perfectly united in mind and opinion. The Corinthian church was wrestling with allegiance to different leaders—some claimed to follow Paul, others Apollos, and still others Cephas or even Christ. Paul’s response highlights a crucial principle: our unity should not be based on human leaders or their opinions but solely on the message of Jesus Christ.
Paul emphasizes that the gospel is not about the messenger but about the message itself. He states that he was sent to preach the gospel, not to baptize, underscoring that the power lies in the proclamation of Christ’s death and resurrection rather than in individual acts of leadership or teaching. This clear focus on the gospel serves as a powerful reminder that Christ is the foundation of our faith and the reason for our unity.
When we place our loyalty in human leaders, we risk creating factions and divisions within the church. Paul’s admonition invites us to transcend personal allegiances and focus on the truth of the gospel. We are called to follow Christ alone—the one who brings us together, regardless of our backgrounds or differences.
As we navigate our faith journeys, let us remember Paul’s words. It’s vital to seek the truth of the gospel above all, allowing it to shape our beliefs and community. In doing so, we honor the message of Jesus Christ and foster a spirit of unity among all believers. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**To Preach The Gospel**
In Corinth’s heart, where whispers stirred,
A call for unity every time,
Through Paul’s stern pen, with wisdom's word,
He seeks to mend the rift that blinds.
“For Christ,” he writes, “we must align,
No factions here, just love’s embrace,
In Him, all spirits intertwine,
Let not our pride this bond erase.”
Some claim allegiance to a name,
“Apollos” or “Cephas” bold;
Yet, in this game, what is the gain?
The Gospel's truth should not be sold.
Was Paul for you baptized to save?
The waters teem with Christ’s own grace,
In humble hearts, the lost He gave,
To transform lives in His warm embrace.
With words of wisdom, not of strife,
Let Christ alone be what we boast,
In His sacrifice, we find our eternal life,
Our hearts united, He is our host.
So let us walk in paths of peace,
With joys and trials, hand in hand,
In Christ, our unity won’t cease,
A faithful, loving, vibrant band. Amen.
